The Companions
INFORMATION The Companions are similar to the Fighters Guild chapters of other regions of Tamriel. Although, they're technically leaderless, there is a rank within the guild known as Harbinger that gives them respect. The fact that they have no official leader is emphasized by their name. Jorrvaskr, the mead hall where the Companions live and operate, is the oldest building in Whiterun. Jorrvaskr is the home of the Companions, and is located on the eastern side of Whiterun in the Wind District. Jorrvaskr sits at the base of the Skyforge, which is an ancient forge from which special weapons and armor are crafted. The Skyforge creates the finest steel in Tamriel, which is why Jorrvaskr was erected in this location. The inside serves as both the Companions' lodging and mead hall where they sleep, tell tales of valor, and occasionally fight each other. It is very simple to join the Companions, you walk to Jorrvaskr, speak to the Harbinger, and he will set you up to fight another member of the Companions so that you may prove your skill and show if you're worthy to join or not. The Companions also have a secret. Several of the Companions are werewolves, those members all being trusted Companions and are put into a group known as the Circle. To join this, you must prove that you are strong and trust worthy, but it is ultimately up to the member to decide if they wish to join and take on the gift (or ailment to some) of Lycanthropy. Items Name: Wolf Armor Description: Wolf Armor is a set of Heavy Armor that consists of a metal breastplate, helmet, gauntlets and boots. Most pieces are adorned with some sort of feral motif—be it the likeness of a wolf's head, a skull, or teeth. It's given to all members of the Companions that request it. Spells Name: Werewolf Form School: Alteration Description: Lycanthropy is a disease/blessing that can be received in The Companions. The spell gives men and women who can transform into powerful monstrous wolves once a thread, and it lasts for +8 posts. Lycanthropy has received mixed criticism by various factions in Skyrim. Some, such as some of the Companions in Whiterun, see it as a blessing, a way of drawing on the strength and ferocity of their inner beast. Others, such as the Silver Hand, see it as a curse, an unnatural violation of nature. The appearance of the werewolf is that of a large wolf-like humanoid creature with razor sharp claws and a set of large teeth. The werewolves of Skyrim have monstrous faces and muscular builds. Males are slightly taller than females. Their eyes in wolf form are yellow, humans that are werewolves have silver eyes when they're in their human form. Lycanthropy is contracted as part of the blood ritual that occurs when joining the Circle of the Companions. Users with Lycanthropy are immune to all diseases completely, and are resistant to poison. When the user activates this they become extremely stronger than normal, but they cannot wield weapons nor can they cast spells in this form, they are just extremely strong, and their body itself acts like a durable armor, as well as them having claws and fangs. Their armor is ripped off of the user (but will be returned if the user wants the next thread). Users of this spell can be reverted to their normal state whenever they will it, if not it will wear out over the 8 posts. Reverting to their normal form will leave them vulnerable for a short time because the transformation isn't instantaneous. |
