[attr="class","boxas"] Welkynd the Scourged Personality Welkynd is a mischievous, sarcastic, and sly man. He likes causing trouble and is good with his words, however he's also quite skilled in the usage of magic. Specifically, the dark arts of necromancy and frost based destruction magic. This is because he's an ancient Nedic Lich that has avoided death by his usage of the dark arts, as many other Liches. Because of this, Welkynd is a very difficult man to kill, and he knows it, this is why he's such a playful person even during serious situations. Welkynd is a Lich, which are known for their sentience despite being undead, which allowed him to keep and even further the vast extent of his magical capabilities as well as his skill in blade combat. One thing, however, that Welkynd takes very seriously is the fact that he must always keep his face covered, he is haunted by the disgusting appearance that was the cost of his immortality and although he would never give it up to look normal again, he attempts to avoid looking at himself at all costs. As a Nede, one of the last known surviving ones, Welkynd worshiped the Aedra, but the one he was most interested in was specifically Akatosh. Welkynd gave his life to Akatosh in prayer and study of his arts, specifically the mystic arts, which eventually caused him to be led down the path of necromancy, which Akatosh disapproved of. Akatosh eventually struck down Welkynd, taking away his magic, which caused the Nedic man to spiral into madness, and this led him to search for anyway to get his magical skills back and pay his 'regards' to his former master, Akatosh. This led him to multiple Daedric princes, specifically Hircine, Malacath, Hermaeus Mora, and Sheagorath whom all gave a bit of their specific spheres to shape Welkynd down the path of an immortal necromancer Lich Dragon Slayer. The combined personality traits are frequently clashing with him, this is due to his own personality being at odds with small imprints of 4 other Daedric princes within him, which cause erratic and spontaneous actions to take hold frequently with Welkynd. History Welkynd was a Nedic sorcerer who studied the arcane arts and worshiped to the Aedra god Akatosh who was known for his connection to endurance, magic, and is known as the Dragon God of Time. Welkynd spent much of his life studying magic and expanding his knowledge under the will of the Aedra, specifically Akatosh. However, Welkynd's infatuation with spells eventually led him down the path of necromancy, magic that is related to the dead. Welkynd didn't realize Akatosh denounced necromancy, and in his ignorance practiced the dark art in the name of Akatosh, who didn't take kindly to this and struck the Nedic mage down, taking away his mastery of magic completely. Welkynd was then chased out of his home tribe, they labeled him as some monstrous being that the gods had cast away in disgust and they should do the same, and this drove Welkynd further down the path of hatred. His goal of revenge led him to the attention of 4 Daedric princes; Hircine (the Prince of the Hunt), Malacath (The Prince of the Spurned and Ostracized), Hermaeus Mora (The Prince of Knowledge), and Sheagorath (The Prince of Madness). Each of them bestowed a bit of their power unto Welkynd from their specific spheres, leaving an imprint of themselves within his mind, and restoring/enhancing his magical abilities to extreme amounts. Because of this, his continued studies and practices in the mystic arts, specifically necromancy in spite of Akatosh, gave him the ability to prolong his life by transforming himself into a Lich after many years. Just at the time of his prime magical abilities and his emergence as a Lich, an event known as the Dragon Rebellions began. It was a war between the Men, Mer and Beastfolk of Tamriel and the oppressive overlord-like dragons. Welkynd had no personal vendetta against the dragons, but the mental affliction given to him by the multiple Daedra took charge. Welkynd's lust for knowledge of the dragons, desire of the hunt of taking down the dragons, want to overcome his affliction, and simple madness caused him to wage war against the dragons. He was one of the Dragon Slayers of Tamriel at the time, and his name was put down in tales and songs. As Welkynd faded back into the shadows, he reigned supreme among the dead he commanded in his underground keeps. Eventually, however, he was given a message by the Daedra that had once healed and cursed Welkynd in the past, a message saying that the dragons were back in Tamriel and Welkynd was needed again. So, once again, Dragon Slayer Welkynd, the Scourged, the Lich was back in Tamriel, specifically Skyrim, and was prepared to kill the reemerged dragons.
